About Us
The Foresters National Council is the advisory group for Courts and Societies linked to the Foresters Friendly Society in New Zealand. It meets annually at the same time as the meeting for the New Zealand Foresters Guarantee Association. The Council underwent a number of changes in its history outlined in the information provided by the Canterbury Library. The first Court of Forestry opened in Christchurch in 1852 after being granted a dispensation in the United Kingdom in February 1849. The combined Friendly Society movement in Christchurch acted together to complete a replica Lodge Hall at Ferrymead.
